Police to Host Informational Session for Seniors
The Herndon Crime Prevention Council, Herndon Police Department and the Herndon Senior Center will host an hour-long informational session for seniors at 6 p.m. March 27 at the Herndon Senior Center. Topics will include senior pedestrian safety, driver safety, identity theft, fraud and computer online safety. Speakers will include Monifa Hamiliton of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Donnell Williams. Sgt. Larry Hildner and Det. Justin Williams of the Herndon Police Department will also be available to answer questions. E-mail Pfc. Beatrice Giron at Beatrice.Giron@herndon-va.gov. The Herndon Senior Center is located at 873 Grace St.
 
The Herndon Police Department reported the following incidents through March 16:
BRUIN DISTRICT
• A noise violation was reported at 10:25 p.m. March 14 in the 400 block of Virginia Avenue.
 
GOLF COURSE DISTRICT
• A person was reported assaulted by an acquaintance at 11:02 p.m. March 14 in the 1000 block of Jeff Ryan Drive.
• A window of a home was reported broken between 7 p.m. and 11:02 p.m. March 14 in the 1100 block of Shannon Place.
• Eggs were reported thrown at a home at 9:14 p.m. March 15 in the 1100 block of Autumnhaze Court.
 
HALEY SMITH DISTRICT
• A 38-year-old Reston man was arrested for being drunk in public at 12:12 a.m. March 16 in the 600 block of Elden Street.
• Video games were reported stolen at 5:53 p.m. March 10 in the 400 block of Elden Street.
• A person's passport was reported taken from an unlocked vehicle between 12:30 a.m. March 10 and 11:28 a.m. March 11 in the 400 block of Elden Street.
• A 25-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested for disorderly conduct and for being drunk in public at 4:34 p.m. March 14 in the 400 block of Elden Street.
 
RUNNYMEDE DISTRICT
• A person was reported assaulted by an acquaintance at 10:46 p.m. March 14 in the 700 block of Van Buren Street.
• A noise complaint was reported at 12:45 a.m. March 15 in the 900 block of Park Avenue.
• A 42-year-old Herndon man was arrested for being drunk in public at 11:50 p.m. March 14 in the 600 block of Spring Street.
• A window was reported broken out of a vehicle at 2 a.m. March 16 in the 1200 block of Grant Street.
CENTER DISTRICT
• A GPS was reported stolen from a locked vehicle between 11:30 p.m. March 14 and 12:30 a.m. March 15 in the 1200 block of Elden Street.
• A 47-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested for being drunk in public at 6:23 p.m. March 10 in the 1200 block of Elden Street.
 
DUI's and Other Incidents
• A 36-year-old Reston man was arrested for driving under the influence at 11:34 p.m. March 12 in the 500 block of Herndon Parkway.
• A 32-year-old Herndon man was arrested for driving under the influence at 1:12 a.m. March 16 in the 1000 block of Sterling Road.
• A 22-year-old Ashburn man was arrested for driving under the influence at 10 p.m. March 10 in the 100 block of Herndon Parkway.
• A 47-year-old Herndon man was arrested on a felony fraud warrant from Prince William County at 1:27 a.m. March 13 in the 500 block of Florida Avenue.
