Town Web Site Launched |
| The Town of Herndon's revamped Web site, which launched
Monday, is intended to be customer-friendly and informative,
town staff said. The site includes new features like the e-Gov
Online Services, which allows town residents to register online
for parks and recreation activities, pay sewer and water bills
and traffic tickets electronically, reserve a tee time at
the Herndon Centennial Golf Course, and view maps and records
of police incidents. |
| The new site is a "huge upgrade," said Mayor Steve DeBenedittis.
"We really wanted to provide as much information for the citizens
and residents of Herndon in a convenient way." |
| Town spokesman Anne Curtis said the site was developed so
that residents can easily find the information they need.
There are, "a lot of different ways people can get that same
piece of information," she said. |
| "You don't have to know how government works to find information,"
said Bill Ashton, director of information technology. The
information, he said, "is presented in a way you would want
to see it as a consumer." |
| The new site's homepage, which features bright pictures
of Herndon landmarks and events, includes a "How Do I?" section
with a drop-down menu of frequently asked questions, as well
as a search window, so residents can find information efficiently.
It also includes a calendar of town events and featured community
activities. |
| Making town information accessible is one of the goals stated
in the Town Council's 2027 vision for the town, Curtis said.
She said the council is striving for "exceptional service"
and said, "communication with citizens is very critical component."
