Dulles Chamber to Host Town Hall Talk About Rail Station
The Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce will host a town hall meeting Wednesday, May 6, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for the public to discuss the coming extension of Metro rail to Dulles Airport and Loudoun County.
Public officials and community leaders are now working to secure funding for local rail stations along the Phase II project rail line. Stations are planned at Reston Parkway, Monroe Street south of Herndon and Route 28.
The town hall meeting is headlined "Will the Train Stop Here? Challenges for Staying on Track." Don Owens, owner of Griffin-Owens & Associates insurance and financial firm, will be the panel moderator. Panelists include Bill Lauer of TETRA Partners, chairman of the chamber's economic development committee; Peter Johnson of Boston Properties, a member of the Western Alliance for Rail to Dulles; and Joe Ritchey of Prospective, Inc. The forum will be in the Herndon Town Council chambers, 750 Lynn St. in downtown Herndon, and will include a presentation of the challenges facing enactment of a tax district to fund rail stations in Reston and Herndon.
