Court Date Set in Manslaughter Case
A court date has been set for Miles Harrison, a 49-year-old Purcellville man who has been charged with manslaughter in the July 8 death of his adopted son. On July 21, a Fairfax County grand jury indicted Harrison for manslaughter. Harrison, who had been in a medical facility, reported to the Fairfax County court and surrendered himself early Tuesday. He was taken into custody by the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office and held pending a bond of $5,000. The court date is scheduled for Aug. 27. Police said Harrison's son Chase was left unattended in a GMC Yukon in the 500 block of Herndon Parkway for several hours on July 8 while Harrison was at work. The 21-month-old was found dead at about 5 p.m. July 8.

Herndon Man Faces Multiple Charges
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office reported that a 26-year-old Herndon man was charged with refusal, driving under the influence, driving of a revoked license, obstruction of justice, destruction of property, disregarding a signal to stop, and preventing law enforcement from making arrest at 4:24 a.m. July 19 at the intersection of Pebble Run Place and Old Ox Road. A deputy observed the man driving in an erratic manner on Route 50. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle continued to drive. The vehicle began to increase its speed and the driver lost control in the area of the listed location. The vehicle struck a cable box and a fire hydrant. The vehicle continued to drive but was unable to maintain control due to a flat tire. The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. A perimeter was established and the Fairfax County Police Department provided aerial support with a helicopter and ground support with a K9 unit. The K9 located the man and he was taken into custody. The man is being held without bond.
