Man Charged for Filing False Police Report
Following investigation of a reported robbery on Oct. 3, the Herndon Police Department arrested the alleged victim, a 48-year old Strasburg, Va., man and charged him with making a false police report and embezzlement. The man had reported that while making a delivery to a business at 7:35 p.m. Oct. 3 in the 300 block of Elden Street he was assaulted, injured and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money by four men. The police department expended about $2,500 in officers' staff time and equipment to investigate the claims, which were determined to be false and which led to the arrest.
 
Armed Robbery Reported in Town
A woman reported being robbed at gunpoint by a man who fled the scene at 4:40 p.m. Oct. 2 in the 600 block of Center Street. The man is described as white or Hispanic, about 5-foot-10 or 5-foot-11, with a stocky build, round face and fair complexion. He was described as wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with a light-colored T-shirt and blue jeans, and he was clean-shaven and had short, black hair. Gunshots Reported
People reported that they heard gunshots and saw two people run from the area to a waiting vehicle. There were no reported injuries. The incident was reported at 5:25 p.m. Oct. 3 in the 1200 block of Alabama Drive.
 
The Herndon police reported the following incidents through Oct. 5:
BRUIN DISTRICT
• A person reported being assaulted by an acquaintance at 1:59 a.m. Sept. 30 in the 1000 block of Burwick Drive.
• A person reported being assaulted by an acquaintance at 1:33 a.m. Oct. 3 in the 13000 block of Worldgate Drive.
• A person reported being assaulted by an acquaintance at 9:03 p.m. Oct. 3 in the 2100 block of Highcourt Lane.
• A person reported being assaulted by an acquaintance at 11:27 p.m. Oct. 3 in the 500 block of Florida Avenue.
• A person reported being assaulted by an unknown person at 1:41 a.m. Oct. 4 in the 13000 block of Worldgate Drive.
• A person reported being assaulted by an acquaintance at 4:20 p.m. Oct. 4 in the 500 block of Florida Avenue.
• A vehicle was reported broken into and several tools were taken between 6:30 p.m. Sept. 29 and 6 a.m. Sept. 30 at the intersection of Palmer Drive and Dogwood Court.
• Two credit cards and an undisclosed amount of cash were reported stolen from a residence at 8:45 a.m. Sept. 30 in the 800 block of Park Avenue.
• Wheels and stereo equipment were reported stolen from a vehicle parked outside of a residence at 8:22 a.m. Oct. 4 in the 600 block of Center Street.
• A vehicle was reported broken into and several tools were taken between 7 p.m. Sept. 30 and 9:30 a.m. Oct. 5 in the 400 block of Virginia Avenue.
• License plates were reported stolen from a vehicle between 5 p.m. Oct. 4 and 9:30 a.m. Oct. 5 in the 600 block of Center Street.
• A 28-year-old Ashburn woman was arrested for being drunk in public at 11:12 p.m. Sept. 30 in the 600 block of Alabama Drive.
• Trespassing was reported at 10:06 p.m. Sept. 30 in the 12000 block of Alton Square.
• Trespassing was reported at 11:20 p.m. Oct. 3 in the 13000 block of Worldgate Drive.
GOLF COURSE DISTRICT
• It was reported that forced entry was made into a vacant residence, but nothing was reported stolen, at 8:40 a.m. Oct. 2 in the 600 block of Clearwater Court.
• A vehicle was reported broken into and miscellaneous paperwork was reported stolen at 6:43 a.m. Sept. 29 in the 1200 block of Springtide Place.
• A vehicle was reported broken into and a GPS was reported stolen between midnight and 7:27 a.m. Oct. 1 in the 600 block of Clearwater Court.
• A person reported receiving a fraudulent check at his business at 12:17 p.m. Oct. 30 in the 1000 block of Sterling Road.
• A window of a vehicle was damaged between 8:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. Sept. 29 in the 800 block of Ferndale Avenue.
• A window and door of a vehicle were reported damaged at 8:37 a.m. Oct. 1 in the 1200 block of Springtide Place.
• A person reported that someone opened his vehicle and rummaged through his glove compartment between 8 p.m. Sept. 30 and 8 a.m. Oct. 1 in the 1300 block of Summerfield Drive.
• Trespassing was reported at 9:45 p.m. Oct. 5 in the 1100 block of Treeside Lane.
HALEY SMITH DISTRICT
• A 21-year-old Herndon man and a 27-year-old Herndon woman were arrested for larceny at 2 p.m. Oct. 3 in the 400 block of Elden Street.
• It was reported that a person stole a bottle of vodka from a business at 1:14 p.m. Oct. 5 in the 600 block of Post Drive.
• A 39-year-old Reston man was arrested for being drunk in public at 12:49 a.m. Oct. 3 in the 100 block of Elden Street.
• A person reported being cursed at by an acquaintance at 6:55 p.m. Oct. 29 in the 100 block of Herndon Mill Circle.
• Graffiti was reported found in the area at 12:32 p.m. Oct. 3 in the 300 block of Elden Street.
RUNNYMEDE DISTRICT
• A vehicle was reported broken into and a stereo system was reported stolen between 5 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. Oct. 5 in the 700 block of Center Street.
• A person reported that two people damaged their car and then demanded money to repair the damage at 2:46 p.m. Oct. 3 in the 400 block of Woodshire Lane.
• A noise complaint was reported at 10:55 p.m. Oct. 4 in the 1100 block of Clarke Street.
CENTER DISTRICT
• A license plate was reported stolen from a vehicle outside a business between 7 p.m. Sept. 28 and 9 a.m. Sept. 29 in the 1100 block of Herndon Parkway.
• A 30-year-old Herndon man was arrested for being drunk in public at 4:35 p.m. Oct. 4 in the 1200 block of Elden Street.
• A 43-year-old Herndon man was arrested for being drunk in public at 5:10 p.m. Oct. 4 in the 1200 block of Elden Street.
DUI's and Other Incidents
• A 44-year-old Herndon man was arrested for driving while intoxicated at 9:06 p.m. Oct. 1 in the 1400 block of Sterling Road.
